Alfonso Morales, Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Chair of the Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture, and State Food Systems/Marketplaces Specialist, UW-Extension, will deliver a talk as part of CSRAI's AI for Social Impact Seminar Series.
"Opportunities and Needs in AI and CI for Direct Market Farming and Farmers Markets"
In this talk, Morales will describe the farm2facts.org software and its uses in direct market farming. He will illustrate 1) how cyber-infrastructure connections can amplify the decision support aspects of the software by incorporating GIS, and 2) how AI/ML can contribute to understanding eco-system services and how farmers market managers and farmers can use that information in marketing, and 3) concerns about protecting PADI (privacy, accountability, and data integrity).
